What is an RSS Feed?

A few days ago I added a custom RSS Generator to a website I built in back in July 2008. 

Although RSS feeds have been around for sometime now, a large number of people are still in the dark about what they are and how you can use them - both to boost visitors to your own website and keep track of a number of different websites without having to look up each website in your browser.
